Rationale:

The opportunity for students to pursue a minor or a certificate in Diversity and Global Studies emerges out of the need to purposefully offer ALL majors/ professionals the option to take coursework that will relate to their successful leadership and professional practice, given the demographic shift in our nation and the rich and increasing diversity of FAU’s service community.

The minor/certificate comprises 12 credits.

The minor is available to all undergraduate degree-seeking students and will be conferred upon completion of coursework related to the minor and simultaneous completion of a bachelor's degree. The certificate is available to degree seeking and non-degree students.

The option for either a certificate or a minor is designed to offer students flexibility based on their program structures and requirements. Students cannot obtain both a certificate and a minor.

Required courses:

  • EDF 2854 – The Educated Citizen in a Global Context (in the Intellectual Foundations Program)
  • EDF 4802 - Community Engagement for Global Consciousness (Capstone course)
